Pampanga Town Typhoon-Affected Farmers Receive Certified Rice Seeds, Fertilizers

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in coordination with the Department of Agriculture (DA) has distributed certified rice seeds to 200 qualified farmers here whose farms and crops were destroyed by recent typhoons.

Town mayor Leonora C. Wong on Thursday said the distribution of certified seeds aimed to lessen the burden of the farmers following the massive floods caused by the typhoons.

San Simon is one of the beneficiaries of the certified rice seeds in Pampanga together with the towns of Candaba, Apalit Arayat and San Luisd .

Wong said that each farmer-beneficiary received one 40 kgs. bag/ sack of either NSIC Rc- 218, NSIC Rc- 222 or PSB Rc – 10 certified seeds.

On the other hand, she said the distribution of one 50 kgs. bag of complete fertilizers to the beneficiaries is still on going through the Municipal Agriculture Office. (PNA) FPV/ZST/FEM/PS
