Manny Pacquiao took the ring once again after announcing his retirement from professional boxing, this time dominating against South Korean martial artist DK Yoo in their six-round match held on Sunday, December 11, at the Korea International Exhibition Center in South Korea.

Pacquiao, who in training videos released by his camp seemed like he was training for a professional match, dominated Yoo in the first two rounds of the bout, unleashing his famous fast combinations with strong body shots against the South Korean martial artist, who was four inches taller than the Filipino boxing legend.

Manny for the most part dominated the one-sided match, bloodied Yoo’s nose by the end of the fourth round amid a flurry of punches, and ultimately scored a knockdown in the final round of the bout.

In an interview after the match, Pacquiao said that it was nice to be boxing again.

“Nice to be back in the ring, especially in this charity exhibition match,” Pacquiao said.

He added that he plans to further his training as he aims to participate in more fights in 2023.

“I’m going to continue training to be back in shape,” Pacquiao added.

Proceeds of the charity match between Pacquiao and DK Yoo will go to the Russian-Ukrainian war victims along with Pacquiao’s housing project in the Philippines, which is for the homeless.

The exhibition match was Pacquiao’s first in over a year after the eight-division world boxing champion lost his WBA super welterweight title defense match against Yordenis Ugas via unanimous decision in August 2021, after which the People’s Champ announced his retirement from professional boxing and set his sights on winning the 2022 Philippine national elections as a presidential candidate.
