Manny Pacquiao booked his first TKO win in 9 years as he dominated Lucas Matthysse in their fight on July 15, 2018 at the Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The Filipino boxing icon and senator was crowned the new WBA (Regular) Welterweight World champion after a stoppage was called by referee Kenny Bayless in the 7th round.

4 years older than Matthysse, Pacquiao gave the audience a throwback show with his speed and power in a vintage performance that left Matthysse confused throughout the fight.

Matthysse was knocked down three times in the fight. He was knocked out in the third round by a left hook from Pacquiao. He was also knocked out in the last second of the fifth round when he took a knee after receiving stiff jabs from Pacquiao and in the 7th round Matthysse received the finishing left uppercut from Pacquiao.

Lucas Matthysse suffered his first defeat since 2015 and now has a record of 39 wins (36 via KO) and 5 losses.

Pacquiao, at 39 years old, is now an eleventh-time world champion and has no plans on hanging his gloves yet as he says he will fight again in the future.

Manny Pacquiao now has a record of 60 wins, 39 coming from knockouts, 7 losses, and 2 draws. (Aljun Cainghog)
