Cebu will soon benefit from the Php 143 million worth of farm-to-market road concreting projects after the Regional Project Advisory Board (RPAB) of the Philippine Rural Development Program (PRDP) approved last April 14 the proposals submitted by Governor Hilario P. Davide III and the Cebu Provincial Government.

The road projects will be constructed at the Anonang Sur, Bogo City – Lambusan, Dap-Dap – Batad San Remigio road, and Kinawahan – Canagahan San Remigio road.

The Department of Interior and Local Government Assistant Director Elias F. Fernandez, Department of Agriculture Regional Director Angel C. Enriquez and representatives from Department of Public Works and Highways, Regional Aquatic and Fisheries Council and Department of Environment and Natural Resources are among the Board of Directors who approved the said project.

Upon the approval, Governor said the infrastructure projects are now a step closer to realization.

“The PRDP sub-projects support the Philippines and regional framework for inclusive growth. It also supports Cebu Province’s six-star agenda, specifically on food security and countryside development,” he said.

He added that the sub-projects are expected to increase rural incomes through higher productivity, lower production cost and improved access to markets.

The Anonang Sur-Lambusan road will be implemented within 300 days, covering 5.8 kilometers with a total estimated cost of Php 57 million.

The Dap-Dap-Batad has a total cost of Php 56 million. It will cover 5.7 kilometers with 260 days of construction.

For the Kinawahan-Canagahan road, it will stretch to about 2.7 kilometers with a cost of Php 30 million. It will be implemented within 366 days.

PRPD is a six-year program (2013-2019) designed to establish an inclusive and market-oriented agri-fishery sector through strategic investments in priority commodity value chains.

The program helps to increase productivity, production and value of outputs, reduce costs, and improve market access and diversity livelihood and enterprise options.
