Over 6,000 Jobs Open for Jobseekers on Labor Day

The Department of Labor and Employment 7 (DOLE 7) held a mega job fair, opening thousands of jobs for job seekers in this year’s Labor Day celebration.

DOLE had two simultaneous mega job fairs in the Atrium Mall Area of Robinsons Galleria Cebu in Cebu City and Lamberto Macias Sports and Cultural Center, Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental, last May 1, 2023.

As of April 27, DOLE reported 3,816 vacancies from 37 different employers that participated in the Cebu City Labor Day Job Fair. The top 10 in-demand positions were Customer Service Representatives (458 job openings), Call Center Agents (300 job openings), Seasonal Customer Service Associates (300 job openings), ESL Teachers (200 job openings), Financial Advisors (100 job openings), Janitors (100 job openings), Sales Representatives (100 job openings), Technical Advisors (100 job openings), Cashiers (98 job openings), and Outbound Sales Agents (75 job openings).

On the other hand, in Dumaguete City, 2,158 local jobs were available for job seekers on Labor Day.

Common positions that were looking for new talents were Customer Service Representatives with 1,660 job openings, Operations Team Leaders with 100 job openings, Data Research Analyts with 50 job openings, Sales Agents with 35 job openings, Housekeeping Staff/Utility Workers with 30 job openings, Customer Sales Associates with 20 job openings, Merchandizers with 10 job openings, Salesmen with 10 job openings, and IT programmers with 9 job openings.

DOLE 7 Regional Director Lilia Estillore thanked the different Public Employment Services Offices in Cebu City, Lapulapu City, and the Province of Negros Oriental for their support for the 2023 Labor Day Job Fair

“We would like to thank the Public Employment Service Offices of Cebu City, Lapulapu City, and the Province of Negros Oriental for the invaluable support they have contributed to ensuring that the upcoming celebration will be materialized and become successful,” Estillore said.

Aside from this year’s Labor Day Job Fair, DOLE also held activities in celebration of this year’s Labor Day. These activities include the One-Stop-Shop Services with DOLE 7 partner agencies, the Kadiwa Ng Pangulo, a Commemorative Program, and the distribution of government assistance through the DOLE-7 under the TUPAD and Livelihood Program and TESDA-7 through its Scholarship Program.
