Tomas Osmeña Proclaimed As Cebu City Mayor-elect

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) Board of Canvassers Tuesday dawn proclaimed Tomas Osmeña as mayor-elect of Cebu City.

Osmeña of the Liberal Party (LP) won the mayoralty race with 266,556 votes, dethroning incumbent Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) who got 232,641 votes.

Osmeña made a comeback after he lost to Rama in the May 13, 2013 mayoral election.

Osmeña, the grandson of the late President Sergio Osmeña, served as mayor of Cebu City from 1988 to 1995 and from 2001 to 2010.

Meanwhile, UNA’s Edgardo Labella was re-elected as the city vice mayor.

Labella, who garnered 251,912 votes, edged LP’s Nestor Archival who got 222,116 votes. (PNA) JMC/EB/EBP
