Official Of Turkish-Based Meliksha University Visit The Philippines To Formalize Academic Agreement With The University Of San Carlos, Cebu City

According to the Philippine Cultural Center Associations, Inc. (PCCAI), leading academic officials of Meliksha University in Kayseri, Turkey visited the Philippines from February 8 to 13, 2016 to meet with officials of the University of the San Carlos (USC) Cebu City the said MOA signing coincided with the program of USC- School of Business and Economics (SBE) International Conference on Business and Economy (ICBE).

Meliksha University’s Associate Professor Mustafa Yuzukirmizi Graduate School of Social Sciences Dean, Department of Business Administration Chair, went to USC on 10 February 2016 for the signing ceremony of the Meliksha- USC Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). Officials of the USC, led by Fr. Dionisio Miranda, SVD USC President and Dean Dr. Challoner A. Matero Dean of University of San Carlos School of Business and Economics received the Meliksha official.

The MOA formalizes the two institutions’ desire to promote the exchange of students, faculty and staff for joint research or other relevant activities. Under the MOA, which will be valid for five years, both institutions shall host, at most, two undergraduate or graduate students.

Dean Matero and Fr. Anthony Salas, SVD.MM VP for Academic affairs signed as witnesses to the MOA, covers the following:

  • Exchange of faculty, researchers and other research and administrative staff;
  • Exchange of students and interns;
  • Conduct of collaborative research projects;
  • Conduct of lectures and symposia;
  • Exchange of academic information and materials; and
  • Promotion of other academic cooperation, as mutually agreed.

The Academic Agreement serves as the mother agreement which can be used as basis for future collaborative undertakings between Meliksha and other USC units. The Agreement is valid for five years.

After the activity in the Radisson Blu Hotel, the Meliksha official and PCCAI President Irfan Karabulut conducted a seminar on New Paradigms in University- Industry Collaboration and Smart Business: Benefits and Risks of Social Media together with International speakers in the academe from Singapore, ,Indonesia, Japan, and Taiwan,

The Meliksha official were evidently pleased with the outcome of their visit in Cebu City. They were very appreciative of the assistance extended by the Pacific Cultural Center Association, Inc. (PCCAI) and highlighted that the MOA signing with USC had taken place less than a year after PCCAI President met with them in November 2015 to encourage Meliksha and USC to explore cooperation.

Both USC and Meliksha University officials were glad to see that their envisioned cooperation had finally started.
