New Cebu City Officials Take Oath

The newly elected officials for Cebu City took oath this morning, June 30, 2022, at the Plaza Sugbo.

Now Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama, his co-runner Vice Mayor Raymond Garcia, and the winning councilors for the north and south districts took their oath at the Plaza Sugbo today.

In his inaugural message, Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama aims to make Cebu City a “Singapore-like Cebu City.”

“I need your help,” Rama pleaded for help from everyone especially city officials and barangay officials to achieve his plans for the city

“It’s not an easy dream. Have we all decided to make it happen? Will you support me? Will you support the government?” Rama said in his speech.

Rama also revealed that Cebu City’s over P1 billion budget has been approved yesterday.

“The city government has approved P1.2-billion supplemental budget,” Rama said.

Moreover, Rama also announced that next year’s Sinulog will be held at the South Road Properties (SRP).

Present at the inauguration of the new city officials were Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma, Monsignor Rudy Alesna, Former mayor of Hilongos, Leyte Jose Emery “Joy” Roble, Joycelyn N. Labella (the wife of later mayor Edgardo Labella) were among the notable persons who were in the event.

Meanwhile, representatives from the business sector also attended the event.

The newly inaugurated officials will serve Cebu City from 2022 to 2025. (ASC)
