The National Museum of the Philippines has once again been picked as the venue for the inauguration of a new Philippine president after the camp of president-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. chooses the venue for his upcoming inauguration as the 17th President of the Philippines.

The National Museum of the Philippines was also the chosen inauguration venue of previous presidents, such as Manuel L. Quezon for his 1935 inauguration, Jose P. Laurel for his 1943 inauguration, and Manuel Roxas for his 1946 inauguration.

Before being known as the National Museum of the Philippines, the place was known as the Old Legislative Building.

According to Presidential Management Staff (PMS) secretary-designate Zenaida “Naida” Angping, the chosen venue was “suitable” for the oath-taking of Marcos.

She added that the venue matches the requirements of the Marcos camp for the inauguration.

“The National Museum of (the) Philippines building and its surrounding areas match our requirements for President-elect Marcos’ inauguration.”

The National Museum of the Philippines was among the chosen venues of the camp of the president-elect for the inauguration, with Fort Santiago and Quirino Grandstand being the other preferred areas.

During the proclamation of the Marcos and Duterte as the next president and vice president of the country in a joint Senate and Lower House session, Senator Imee Marcos said that the Marcos family would have preferred if the selected venue would be the Quirino Grandstand, as it is where the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr. held his inauguration on 1965.
