This city will soon be in the world map comes October 2019 as 93 lovely candidates from various countries around the globe compete for the much coveted Miss Earth crown.

Mayor Nelson Legacion, in a press conference held at the City Events, Protocol and Public Information Office (CEPPIO) Aug. 21, Wednesday, confirmed that Carousel Productions, Inc., – the organization that currently owns and runs the Miss Earth and Miss Earth Philippines beauty pageants, has given the city its nod to hold the Coronation Night of Ms. Earth International 2019 at the Jesse M. Robredo (JMR) Coliseum.

“This is the first time in the history of Naga that we are hosting an international event and I hope that everyone will be on board to ensure the success of this big occasion. Our commitment is the assurance to the organizers that the venue will live up to the standards set for this kind of most-celebrated pageant,” Legacion said.

The chief executive said that they are now in the process of renovating the JMR coliseum to make sure that those who will be cheering for their respective candidates during the search will have a comfortable and positive impression of their experience.

JMR coliseum, dubbed as the “Big Dome of the South” attracted the attention of the President of United Architect of the Philippines (UAP Archizonian Chapter), Architect Louie Dumalaon, while viewing the drone shot of the venue.

“The moment we set our eyes at the JMR Coliseum, we know it is the perfect venue for the coronation night of Ms. Earth International 2019. With its 12,000 capacity, we know that the audience will have a grand experience watching the Beauties for a Cause ramp off the stage,” Dumalaon stressed.

Per assessment of the venue’s needs for improvement, Legacion said that they are going to put exhaust fans, purchase high-volume low-speed ceiling fans and put air coolers at the middle aisles of the coliseum. The chief executive added that they will also see to it that comfort rooms inside the coliseum will be comparable, if not better than the existing ones at the leading shopping malls in the city.

With the expected influx of more foreigners and other spectators in the city, Legacion assured that they have already put in place a security plan in coordination with the Joint Operations Center (JOC) to guarantee the safety of the candidates and of the visitors.

Crime and Corruption Watch Chief and Ms Earth Intl. 2019 license holder Carlo Battala said that they have already crafted a MOA with the PNP Regional Office for the allocation of the augmentation personnel who will map out security plan for the big event.

Ms. Earth International’s uniqueness is attributed to the organizer’s campaign to instill the importance of being stewards of Mother Earth thru the promotion of a clean, green and healthy environment. (LSMacatangay-PIAV/Camarines Sur)
