MVIC Drive Thru Serves 2,000 Vehicles

The first ever drive-thru vehicle registration renewal has served 2,000 motorists and counting in its one month and on going operations. This is also the only drive-thru vehicle registration renewal in the Visayas.

Located in MVIC Complex in barangay Subangdaku in Mandaue City, the Land Transportation Office Central Visayas (LTO)-7’s drive thru registration has renewed a total of 1,113 motor vehicles and 1,299 motorcycle registration as of August 11 this year.

LTO-7’s new system of registration renewal is also strategic and very timely since the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic is still present.

Meanwhile, Mandaue City Councilor Nerissa Soon-Ruiz authorized the passing of the resolution allowing the drive-thru operations in the City on July. Fixers and other opportunists will also be expected to be minimized through the new system.

“We are very happy with the outcome of our MVIC drive-thru especially on its first month.” said LTO-7 Regional Director Vic Caindec.

From July 6 to August 11 this year, LTO-7’s drive-thru vehicle registration renewal catered 2,412 motorists who don’t need to go to an LTO office to renew their registration.

“One vehicle will take 45 to 50 minutes of processing. Due to the slower Internet connection in the past few days, we are averaging at least 1hr now. But average transactions per day has reached 150,” said Caindec.

LTO-7 however, clarified that the new system is only applicable to the renewing vehicle registration and not for new vehicle registrations.

Vehicle owners should bring a clear copy of their certificate of registration (CR) and official receipt (OR), insurance certificate of cover (COC), emission test result, and stencils of chassis no. and engine no.

The MVIC drive-thru facility in Mandaue City which is the first and only drive-thru facility in the Visayas offering renewal of vehicle registration, operates from Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 5. (MLC)
