Music Album Review- We Love Our Titser

Published

on

Maximelodies and Diamonds production presented the album launching We Love Our Titser with Max Surban and Missing Filemon last April 11, 2015 at 7:00pm at the Ayala Terraces.

The album was a collaboration between two generations in the making. The older generation being presented by Max Surban and the young presented by Missing Filemon.

Though it was hailed as a collaboration album, it was more of tribute album for me, a tribute from Missing Filemon for Max Surban. This is because out of the ten songs, there is only one song, which is, Dirty Look, that that the two artists sang together. The rest, the two artists were singing on their own with most of the time Missing Filemon singing Max Surban’s songs.

Despite that, the album still stands out on two areas. First, the album already was a winner because of its concept – Missing Filemon paying tribute to Max Surban. So when you hear Missing Filemon doing covers of I Love my Titser, Turagsoy and more. You are reminded that this album is just absolute genius!

Then on the other side to it, this album is also historical. Every young band or artists wanting to pay tribute to other local artists after this one will always mark this album as the one who started it, thus this album could open up a lot of things.

Young bands now could pay tribute to Cebu bands like 40’, Roots or the Abyss. As the present generation acknowledges where it came from it will also help stabilize Cebu’s musical and cultural history.

As of now Missing Filemon is now known historically to be the pioneers of Bisrock and being the first Cebuano band to ever produce an album consisting entirely of rock songs in Cebuano.

Because of this album, they will also be recognized as the first band to start the phenomenon of paying tribute to Cebu’s musical artists.
