Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III and Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale led the inauguration rites of the two (2) road concreting projects worth more than P40 million last Tuesday (Feb.16).

Davide and Magpale attended the ribbon cutting ceremony of the Abuno-Guindaruhan road in Minglanilla and another similar event in San Fernando for the Sangi-Bugho beltway.

The Capitol shelled out P20.9 million for Abuno-Guindaruhan, which stretched up to 1 kilometer while it spent P19.7M for the 2.8-km portion of the Sangi-Bugho road.

Magsico village chief Johnny Arriesgado said the road improvement of the Sangi-Bugho would reduce by 45 minutes the travel time of residents from its neighbor town of Pinamungajan to Cebu City.

It also gave relief to 3,000 residents of Barangay Magsico who would have to contend excessive dust and dangerous potholes before the completion of the road concreting.

Connecting Minglanilla to Naga, the Abuno-Guindaruhan road section is seen to hasten the potentials of the Naga Valley Industrial Park located in Barangay Cantao-an, one of the country’s economic processing zones.

resent during the turnover ceremony at Barangay Magsico in San Fernando were representatives from Taiheiyo Cement Philippines Inc. (TCPI) led by its chief executive officer Satoshi Azami.

TCPI donated 42, 250 bags of cement for the concreting of Sangi-Bugho road while Primary Structures shouldered the cost for the road right of way in Minglanilla.

The involvement of the private sectors in these projects is a testament of what private-public-partnership can do for the community when anchored on the principles of transparency and good governance.

CASH DISTRIBUTION

Meanwhile, the Cebu Provincial Government distributed cash incentives to 2, 151 barangay workers in the municipalities of San Fernando and Minglanilla and the city of Naga.

Govenor Davide and Vice Governor Magpale thanked barangay personnel, saying that their invaluable work could be considered as an extension of the provincial government’s service to the people.

Naga City Mayor Val Chong lauded Davide and Magpale for working earnestly to help uplift the lives of their constituents under their administration.

“Under their administration, the style of leadership of Gov. Davide and Vice Gov. Magpale is based on genuine service to the people. I also know that what they are doing comes from the heart,” said Chong, in Cebuano, whose speech drew loud applause from the audience.

In San Fernando, 680 barangay workers received cash incentives amounting to P1.264 million; Minglanilla got P1.07 million for 550 workers and Naga City took in P1.814 for 921 personnel.

The recipients include health personnel, tanods, day care workers, nutritionists and animal health aid assistants.

Tanods and animal health aid workers got P1,500 each while health personnel, day care workers and nutritionists received P2,400 respectively.
