More PHL Bays Should Be In ‘Most Beautiful Bays’ List – French businessman

French businessman Hubert d’Aboville on Wednesday urged fellow businessmen to invest in developing tourism in Philippine bays since they did not receive as much attention as the country’s beaches.

d’Aboville, president and founder of Puerto Galera Most Beautiful Bay Inc. noted that there are many bays in the Philippines that deserve to be recognized as part of the prestigious Most Beautiful Bays in the World Club.

Puerto Galera received recognition as part of the Most Beautiful Bays in the World by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) in 2005.

“We should have two to three more bays accredited in Most Beautiful Bays,” d’Aboville said in a press conference noting that the Bacuit Bay in El Nido, Palawan should be on the list as well.

Palawan, however, already has its own claim to fame as home to the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River or Underground River, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature.

d’Aboville pointed out that being a good-standing member of the club will give not only the municipality or region but the entire country a lasting good impression especially in tourism which provided locals with a source of livelihood and jobs.

He, however, noted that taking the first step to get involved would require both efforts from the public and private sector.

“There should be a team that is willing to take the challenges of the world today to fight pollution and make sure that the bay remains clean and beautiful,” d’Aboville said.

“They should maintain the quality of the bay over the years because it is part of our efforts to adapt to climate change,” he added.

d’Aboville meanwhile said that each Filipino had the responsibility to promote tourism and protect the environment from the dangers of pollution.

“Each of us have a responsibility to win the heart of the foreigners because they travel and spend a lot of time, energy and money just to come visit us but what is most important is that we save this treasure” he said. (PNA) FPV/ANP
