Published

on

Airport personnel at the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) will undergo a disaster preparedness workshop dubbed as “Get Airports Ready for Disaster (GARD)”.

The Deutsche Post DHL (DPDHL) has partnered with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to conduct the workshop that will kick off on March 31, 2014.

The workshop aims to prepare airport personnel for emergencies caused by natural disasters, such as handling high volumes of incoming goods and passengers in the aftermath of a disaster.

DPDHL and UNDP will train MCIA personnel to make post-disaster airport scenes less chaotic with the airport staff better prepared to facilitate relief.

GARD trainers and materials are provided for free by DHL, while UNDP manages the project; leads the coordination with government authorities, and provides fund to shoulder workshop costs.
