MCCI Opens Mandaue Business Month, For A Cause

The Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) opened this year’s Mandaue Business Month (MBM) last August 8 for a cause that is launching a master plan for a newer and better Mandaue Business Park (the park under the Marcelo Fernan Bridge) . MCCI targets to make the recreational facility a renowned tourist destination in Cebu.

The event started off with a motorcade in Mandaue, followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony in the park which marked likewise a celebration to the launching of the partnership MCCI has with the Mandaue city government. Dinner preceeded for the guests, friends and members of the Chamber. Among those distinguished present were Board Members Philip Tan, Girlie Garces, Amado Go, Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes and Cebu Vice Governor Agnes Magpale.

In a speech, President Tan quipped, “Mandaue Bridge Park is one of Mandaue’s best kept secret. And today, we want to bring out this secret in the open.” MBM2013 Chair Garces also highlighted in her keynote that the Chamber wants to make Mandaue Bridge Park a place for recreation where children can play enjoying the fresh sea breeze from the coast nearby it. It is the Chamber’s aim too to change the landscape of the area to provide the Mandauehanons a diversion, away from the bustling city. The MCCI board members emphasized on the park’s potential to become a tourist spot and a prime recreational area.

Within the dinner event, a ceremonial turnover of the monetary check contribution from San Miguel Corporation, which is the project supporter and sponsor, also transpired. This was followed by the stamping of the seal of commitment between the province of Cebu and the city of Mandaue, which was participated by the the government officials involved. Mayor Cortes, Tan, Garces and Vice Governor Magpale also shared toasts onstage as a mark of camaraderie fostered in the partnership.

The MCCI opening concluded with a few barbecues and beers sponsored by San Miguel Corporation. A Mandauehanon band also serenaded the crowd while watching the fireworks display.
