A mass wedding in the town of Consolacion in northern Cebu, catered 30 couples on Sunday, December 15, at the San Narciso Church.

30 newly-wed couples cannot hide their joy after they were formally announced as husbands and wives.

This is the first time that the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) have been given the chance to be married at a mass wedding.

“Naka improve man gyud ni sa attitude sa mga katawhan nga dili nila ibalewala ang sakramento sa kaminyoon (This program improved the attitude of people for them to value the sacrament of marriage),” said Vice Mayor Teresa Alegado.

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Consolacion has been sponsoring the mass wedding program for 8 years already.

“Tungod ni nga programa nakatabang gyud ni kaayo sa ilang kinabuhi ug ilang ugma (Because of this program, it can help them with their lives and their future),” Alegado added.

Consolacion Mayor Joannes Alegado and other municipal councilor were present during the said program. (MLC)
