Mandaue City Launches Cultural Summit 2014

Summer rings a bell to all Mandauehanons as the months during this season pave way for the city’s fiesta and its aligned activities. The Mandaue City Mid-Year Cultural Summit 2014 was launched to the media last March 14 at J Centre Mall.

Among the VIPs that graced the gathering were the event’s working committee members, Mayor Jonas Cortes and Vice Mayor Glenn Bercede. Present during the said launching also are the candidates for the Miss Mandaue 2014. They,with the organizers of the beauty pageant, were presented to the media.

Other than the 12 Miss Mandaue candidates, the proposed perspective of the Mandaue City Council’s Protection for Children (MCCPC) facility was also shown. The edifice will feature a meditation garden, covered court, playground, pond, visitor’s waiting area, and plant production and livestock areas, among many others.Known as the HOMe project, it will be built in Barangay Basak, Mandaue City.

New to this year’s celebration, is a Balikbayan Night slated on May 10 at the Mandaue Sports Complex. For the first time, there will also be the Miss Mandaue Talents Night on March 21 at the Insular Square, and the Panagtagbo sa Mandaue Festival on May 3 at 4 p.m. at the Sports Complex. Students from the Mandaue City College Night will portray the “Rosas Pandan” drama at the Heritage Plaza.

Another new to this year’s celebration is the event’s webpage where couples who have been wed at the Saint Joseph Parish, can upload their wedding photos. Prizes will be given to those who qualify for certain criteria.
