Malacañang Roots for Manny Pacquiao Against American Boxer Chris Algieri

Malacañang on Friday expressed its support for Manny Pacquiao as he defends his WBO Welterweight title against American boxer Chris Algieri in Macao this Sunday.

“As in past fights, obviously we root for the Pacman, lalo ho itong pagdating ng Linggo,” Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte told reporters during the daily press briefing at the Palace.

Valte noted that it would be an interesting match.

“Medyo maganda ang laban, kasi may reach and height advantage po ang kanyang kalaban. Maganda rin po ang record niya dahil undefeated at medyo bata-bata po ito. But we are confident that the Pacman will again bear the flag proudly this time,” she said.

Pacquiao is coming on a two-fight winning streak, having beaten Timothy Bradley to regain a welterweight title last April, and Brandon Rios in November last year. It will be the 64th bout of his career, which includes titles in eight divisions. PND (ag)
