Magnitude 5.2 Quake Jolts Surigao del Norte

A magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck the province of Surigao del Norte at 4:36 a.m. Wednesday.

In its earthquake bulletin issued at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the earthquake’s epicenter was recorded 66 kilometers east of Burgos, Surigao del Norte.

The tectonic earthquake, which has a depth of 12 kilometers, was felt in the following areas: Intensity 3 – Burgos, Intensity 2 – Surigao City and Intensity 1- Mainit, all in Surigao del Norte.

According to Phivolcs, there are no expected damages and aftershocks from this earthquake. (PNA) FFC/BNB
