Magnitude 4.1 Quake Jolts Surigao del Norte

A magnitude 4.1 earthquake struck the province of Surigao del Norte on Monday evening, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).In its bulletin, the agency said the tremor occurred at 8:22 p.m. with the epicenter traced 27 kilometers northeast of Burgos in Surigao del Norte.

Phivolcs said the quake was felt at Intensity 4 in the towns of Burgos and Gen. Luna. In Surigao del Norte, while Intensity 3 felt in Surigao City; Loreto, Dinagat Islands; Socorro, Surigao del Norte, and Intensity 2 in Mainit, Surigao del Norte

The agency noted that the temblor, which was tectonic in origin, had a depth of 19 kilometers.

It added that there was no casualty or damage reported from the quake. (PNA) JBP/CLTC
