Mabolohanons Avail Free Services

“I am thankful to Mayor Michael Rama for creating this program as it is of great help to the Cebuanos especially the less fortunate,” shared Marilou Balbona, 50, one of the thousands of residents of Barangay Mabolo who availed of the free services during the “City Hall at Your Doorstep” held Thursday morning April 28, 2016 in Sitio Regla in the said barangay.

In an interview with the BARUGG News, Marilou who availed of the medical consultation further shared that the activity must be continuously conducted to reach out to the different Sitios in the 80 villages of the city.

For Jerome Tagra, 29, who also availed of the medical consultation enthuses in Bisaya, “I am happy and thankful to Mayor Rama for he is thinking for the welfare of his constituents to help the people with our health and medical needs, among many others.”

Dubbed as the “Feast of Free Services” the activity is one of the major programs of Mayor Rama which was launched in the year 2010 during his first term as the city’s chief executive. It is already institutionalized with the aim to bring the services of the city government closer to the people and avail it for free sans going to the different offices in Cebu City Hall.

Cebu City Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella also graced the activity and thanked everyone especially the employees from the different department comprising this city for religiously doing their job in rendering services to the people.

Labella underscored that the program is a project of the current administration to bring the government services closer to the poeple.

Meanwhile, thousands of Mabolohanons also availed the various basic services from the 22 departments of the city government which served as a one-stop shop with avail-all-services-you-can system on a first-come, first served basis.

Among the services rendered were medical and dental consultations with free medicines, random blood sugar testing, blood typing, feeding for children, Cedula issuance and anti-rabies vaccination for dogs and cats.

Other services offered were the repair and installation of street lights and artesian wells, consultation on traffic issues and concerns, consultations on the ‘Let there be Light Program’ and urban poor related issues, free hair cutting, job placement referral, pruning and trimming of trees, consultation on drug related issues, fire prevention orientation, and vaccinations for pneumonia prevention, among several others.

The all-out support of everyone wrapped-up the great success of the activity which ended around 12 noon. A good weather was also observed throughout the activity. (Cebu City Public Information Office PIO/Greggy Jiggs P. Senados)
