LPA, ITCZ Bring Rains on Tuesday

(PNA) — Expect rains in most parts of the country including Metro Manila on Tuesday due to two weather system affecting the country, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In an interview, PAGASA weather forecaster Shaira Nonot said that as of 4 a.m. a low pressure area (LPA) was spotted 190 km northeast of Daet, Camarines Norte (14.5°N, 124.7°E) embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone affecting Visayas and Mindanao.

Nonot said the LPA has slim chance to intensify into tropical cyclone and will dissipate within the next 24 hours.

Nonot said two to four tropical cyclones are expected for the month of September.

The next tropical cyclone will be locally named “Jenny”, the 10th tropical cyclone to affect the country this year.

Nonot said the LPA embedded in ITCZ will bring cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) Central and Eastern Visayas and Mindanao.

She said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of the country.

She added no gale warning was issued by the state weather bureau as fisherfolks are safe to venture into the sea.

In its advisory, PAGASA said light to moderate winds blowing from the northeast to northwest will prevail over Luzon and coming from the south to southwest over the rest of the country.

The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate. (PNA) JBP/CLTC
