Manila (PNA) — Rains are expected in some parts of Visayas and Mindanao on Wednesday due to the presence of low pressure area inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), according to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

PAGASA weather forecaster Shaira Nonot said that as of 4 a.m. Wednesday the LPA was spotted 730 km east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar (10.5N, 133.0E).

Nonot said the LPA has slim chance to intensify into tropical cyclone but once it intensifies into a cyclone it will be locally named “Kabayan”, the 11th tropical cyclone to affect the country this year.

She added the presence of LPA will bring cloudy skies with light to moderate rains over Eastern Visayas and the regions of Caraga and Davao.

She said the rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will experience fair weather except for isolated thunderstorms.

In its advisory, PAGASA said light to moderate winds blowing from the east to southeast will prevail over luzon and coming from the east to northeast over the rest of the country. The coastal waters throughout the entire archipelago will be slight to moderate.

The state weather bureau did not issue a gale warning as fisherfolk are safe to venture into sea. (PNA) JBP/CLTC
