It is up to local government units (LGUs) under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) and Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) in Central Visayas to allow kids in outdoor activities.

The Department of Health Region 7 (DOH 7) announced this development after the latest Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) Resolution 125 that lowers the age restrictions on people who can go outdoors.

The resolution stated that only areas under GCQ and MGCQ are permitted to allow children ages five and above to go outdoors but limited only in places with open spaces. This includes parks, playgrounds, beaches, bike and hike trails, and tourist sites and attractions.

Children can also participate in outdoor non-contact sports courts and venues and also eat in al-fresco dining establishments.

However, children of that age group are still not allowed inside malls and establishments alike.

DOH 7 Medical Program Coordinator for Infectious Diseases Dr. Van Philip Baton said that parents or guardians should supervise their children and observe the minimum public health standards like wearing of face masks and social distancing. (ASC)
