Julie’s Bakeshop’s Passion for Giving

Published

Julie’s Bakeshop brought smiles and cheers to the students and teachers of Alambijud Elementary School in Argao, Southern Cebu with the donation of 5 personal computer units and 2 boxes of used children’s books courtesy of donors from St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Belford, Texas, USA.

On September 30, 2016, the Alambijud Elementary School celebrated the 1st Year Anniversary of the Julie’s Franchise Corporation (JFC) Building. The JFC Building is a 3-classroom structure donated by Julie’s Franchise with the support and cooperation of the Alambijud Elementary Parents-Teachers Association. It is currently used by its grades 4, 5 and 6 students.

Alamibijud is a mountain barangay about 20 kilometers from Argao poblacion in the southern part of Cebu province. Julie’s Bakeshop started helping the public elementary school way back in 2011 when it donated cash for the construction of a 300-feet deep well and water system within the school premises for the use of its students. Before the water system project was completed in January 2012, the teachers then had to ask the students to fetch water from a spring down in a valley on the first hour of their classes. Back then, there was a high incidence of water-borne diseases from among both the students and teachers.

In September 2014, Julie’s Franchise initiated the construction of a 3-classroom building through the cooperation of the Department of Agriculture, the Municipality of Argao, Barangay Alambijud, the Department of Education, Alambijud Elementary School–PTA, SVD and Pasedev Inc. The building was turned-over to the school last year – September 2015. Other donors include Selecta and Davis Paints.

Shown in photo above are the Alambijud Elementary School teachers and students together with representatives from Julie’s Franchise Corporation. The used children’s books from St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Texas, USA were sent through the efforts of Ms. Elizabeth Chanoine of the Christian Connection and Ms. Catherine Cabinian.
