The IRONMAN 70.3 Philippines marks its return to Cebu in post-pandemic times in grand fashion with a new title sponsor, Megaworld’s The Mactan Newtown, as the race gets ready to welcome thousands of athletes from various parts of the world for the ultimate test of endurance and mental toughness.

The premier endurance race, which will be hosted for the very first time at The Mactan Newtown, a 30-hectare township development in Lapu-Lapu City that has its own beachfront, is set for August 7, 2022.

The Mactan Newtown will serve as the starting and finishing points of the race, and at the same time, it will also be the base for all the participants. Megaworld Hotels & Resorts’ Savoy Hotel Mactan will be hosting as the main hotel for the participants and their families.

“We take pride in being part of this great undertaking and we hope to sustain this partnership in the years to come. We are very excited to have them here at The Mactan Newtown and showcase how the vibrancy of our township complements the fast-paced lifestyle of some of the best athletes of the sport,” said Jennifer Ann Palmares-Fong, Vice President for Sales and Marketing, Megaworld Visayas.

Organizers are expecting thousands of endurance athletes to be in Cebu in three months, with the host province also putting premium on the safety of all participants in relation to the local health measures.

“The two-year break due to pandemic only made the participants hungrier for action and recognition. The postponement was a challenge to triathletes and event supporters but we are excited to provide these athletes an exceptional racing experience this year,” said Princess Galura, General Manager of Sunrise Events, Inc, race organizers for IRONMAN 70.3 Philippines.

“The health and safety of our community are our utmost priority, so we will make sure to put in place all the necessary steps to ensure a smooth staging of IRONMAN 70.3,” Galura added.

This is the second endurance race from the IRONMAN group, as the Philippines moves to welcome events in the new normal.

Triathletes looking forward to crossing the finish line on a world-class course in the country’s triathlon capital of Cebu, can register for IRONMAN 70.3 Philippines.
