Intl Speakers Power Women-Upliftment Talks in Cebu

About 300 participants from the academe and corporate sectors attended the transformative, empowerment and leadership for women symposia initiated by Zonta Club of Cebu over the weekend.

The club invited international speakers on women leadership to advocate awareness of violence against women entitled “The Quiet Strength of Women—A Force to Change the World”.

“This is the first biennium 2019-2020 project of Zonta Club 1, is a reinforcement of our thrust to prevent VAW,” according to PRESIDENT Minnie Yuvienco.

The invited international speakers tackled topics on identifying self-identity, confidence building and developing creativity and empowerment.

Susan Friedman spoke about How to Find Uniqueness to Transform Leadership Style.

Another speaker Lynn Leahy tackled about Emotionally Intelligent Leadership:Challenging the Status Quo.

On the other hand, Transformative Leadership Lessons from Silicon Valley was shared by Rebecca Morgan while Ronada Faught spoke about Building Bridges and Breaking Barriers –Female Style.

There were also renditions of women empowering songs by Jana Stanfield, another international speaker and entertainer known for her multi platinum songs.

Participants were mostly from the academe and corporate since the aim was to develop the inner strength of women to help men in changes to improve quality of life.

“I presented this project to Zonta 1 because it is relevant to our goal of developing confident Zontians and women to emerge from her shell, and share her ideas and service!” according to Paulette Deduque-Liu, Chair of the Women’s Leadership Conference & Cebu Director, Philippine Society for Training & Development said.

She said the speakers traced the roots of transformative leadership, in the home where the child is nurtured like a seed that grows to become a fruit bearing tree or a fragrant flower.

The Zontians are heavily involved in advocacy and intervention programs in protecting and empowering the plight of women. (fcc/PIA7-Cebu)
