Hilly Portions Of Boracay High Risk To Fire — BFP

Published

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) considers some hilly portions of this resort island as high risk to fire.

This is according to Senior Fire Officer Patricio Collado, acting provincial fire marshal, as they are set to start the observance of fire prevention month.

“Several hilly portions such as Talipapa areas are high risks for aside from its highly elevated, structures including hotels and boarding houses, they are too close also with each other that is difficult to immediately stop fire incidents if triggered,” said Collado.

The BFP plans to initiate massive fire prevention campaign in this resort island this March. The Bureau also will be conducting a month-long study and mapping on fire safety in this resort island.

“We really need the cooperation of the stakeholders and the local government on this,” he said, adding that local officials are cooperative in its effort on fire safety. (PNA) JBP/AJP/JNAGUIRRE/LPT/EBP
