Harlan + People: 6 Stories of Time-Saving Experts Who “Ain’t Got Time For That”

Published

on

Nowadays, everything goes by quickly. We get up, have our coffee, get dressed, head to work, eat in between, and before we know it the day ends. Then we do the same thing all over again, even spending valuable time on things like gossip and falling into social media rabbit holes that just add to the noise and leave us drained. As we hustle and bustle through life, we can sometimes lose focus on what’s important that we forget to live in the present and in the moment. What we do today defines us and with our current at-home situation, it’s all the more important that we make the most out of our time.

harlan + holden, a fashion brand headquartered in Seoul, founded in manila, embodies this time-saving mindset and has translated it to their first global campaign “Ain’t Got TIme For That”. This philosophy encourages us to reprioritize and declutter our lives from the little things that shouldn’t matter because life opens up when you take the time for what truly does. harlan + people was created to bring that message closer, featuring stories of admirable characters who value their time and are making the most out of it. The series was kickstarted in the fashion-forward cities of Milan and Bergamo in Italy and has been localized in the Philippines, Indonesia, and Korea.

“The images capture everyday moments, along with the use of our product and catchy message which relates to the character’s personality. It follows a positive vision of the world, from a young generation point of view, which perfectly goes hand in hand with the harlan + holden Ain’t Got Time For That manifesto,” said Alessandra Facchinetti, Creative Director of harlan + holden.

Jess Wilson, Philippines

British-Filipina “It Girl” and entrepreneur Jess Wilson turned her lipstick obsession into an overnight sensation when she co-founded cosmetics brand and cult phenomenon Sunnies Face. A seasoned traveler with a soft spot for the sea, Jess is the epitome of an easy and elegant jet-set style that can look romantic, classic, and comfortable all at once. At a young age, she was taught a valuable lesson from the strong-willed women of her maternity clan: investing time in vanity is a healthy exercise in empowerment and self-esteem.

“I greatly value authenticity and sharing time with the people I love. I like to experiment with my style and I always go for something romantic, classic, and comfortable. More than anything, I value versatility and comfortability with the clothes that I wear.”

Mari Jasmine, Philippines

Mari Jasmine is a Japanese-Australian entrepreneur who is more than just a content creator. As the co-founder of SORA, she leads the creative direction and artist collaborations to sell sustainable towels made from recycled plastic waste. A proud advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and a nature-loving yogi, the socially-conscious and liberal-minded Mari is determined to use her influence for the better. Grounded and unfazed by fame, she has little time for fancy frocks or frilly tops and veers more towards the versatile and fluid.

“As an entrepreneur, I need to constantly evolve and my lifestyle needs to be flexible. The pandemic has definitely shifted my wardrobe into one that is more comfort-based, with pieces that are easy to move around in. I’ve always gravitated towards more timeless styles with interesting silhouettes over more trendy pieces that push boundaries.”

Tracianne Estrada, Philippines

Tracianne Estrada defines summer as a state of mind and a never-ending season. When she’s not chasing early-morning swells or riding her longboard down the winding road, this media-savvy free spirit keeps herself busy running Float, a body-positive swimwear label, and dessert shop La Gula. Sporty yet style-conscious, she prefers to keep her everyday wardrobe real and refreshingly raw, ready for serious business calls over Zoom and salty romps on the beach. Tracianne’s eternally sunny collection of time-saving pieces is always ready for today’s meeting or tomorrow’s adventure.

“I am focused on my present and I always thrive in the moment. I try to emulate my mantra in every detail of my life, including how I choose my wardrobe. I wear clothes that make me feel confident and stylish in the most effortless and attainable way possible. Light and breezy items dominate my wardrobe choices from day to night since my daily life is full of activities that require my attention.”

Salvita De Corte, Indonesia

Actress and visual artist Salvita De Corte can’t be defined by a singular role or solitary stroke. This mixed-heritage model and cover girl channel her emotions into every color, line, and brushstroke of her abstract portraits, while also flexing her creative pedigree on the silver screen – most notably in the HBO series Halfworlds. As she shuffles between film sets and her studio by the sea, Salvita defies time by relying on a wardrobe of reinvented basics that reflect her body of work: effortlessly cool, comfortable on the eyes, and conversation pieces.

“I always go for something casual and comfortable, nothing too stiff. With all my responsibilities in work and family, time is really of the essence. I want to make sure that I always make good use of my time, which harlan + holden clothes offer to me.”

Jessie Setiono, Indonesia

A corporate attorney and a professional model, Jessie Setiono effortlessly navigate both the limelight and the law to the fullest, gracing the front page of every major glossy while acting as the legal counsel for a publicly listed company. Long admired for her sophisticated style, Jessie defines sartorial beauty by a different standard with timeless pieces that never fail to make a polished statement – whether she’s unwinding over a chilled bottle of Provençal rosé, curling up with her favorite book, or chasing pink sunsets.

“I am very limited with time and I want things to be a seamless process, which is what harlan + holden provides to me. These days, I definitely go for comfort and neat fashion. I look for fashionable outfits that would make me feel comfortable doing my work and all the things that I have to do with my day.”

Youngshin Kim, Korea

Youngshin Kim has been quietly pushing the boundaries of floristry, one bouquet at a time, and her creations have been featured in high-profile titles including The New York Times. Kim’s fresh, earthy style is a true reflection of the unaffected bouquets she has become famous for: imaginative yet minimalist, brimming with whimsy, and wildly beautiful. This self-described “flower hippie” also indulges in another passion, open water swimming, and as she jets between two jarringly different worlds on a whim, Kim can’t be bothered with a time-consuming wardrobe.

“My profession gives me creativity and fun in everything I do. Balance is really important for me, especially between work and leisure. I like simple and trivial things, which also align with my fashion style and harlan + holden manifesto.”
