Goodies Flood at Oakridge’s Pink Tent

Who says Pink October is just all about free breast examinations and awareness on breast cancer? Advocates and friends of the breast cancer awareness month organized a food bazaar at The Oakridge Pavilion last October 26 as one of the events filling up for this reast cancer awareness month.

Foodies such as artisan chocolates from Ralfe Gourmet, healthy salad dressings from Sola Blend, cakes from Karen Ramirez Cake Creations, delicious biko from Biko Queen and yummy chocolates and brownies from Fudge to name a few, treated the visitors with their goodies on sale. There were free food samplings, and a program during the day which entertained those who dropped by to have a bunch of the foods on sale. The event was kicked off with a free Zumba with instructor Emma Satchel followed by a Laughter Yoga by Paolo Trinidad. In the afternoon, a forum was slated addressing the salient need of financial assistance, among cancer patients. Organizations who gave a briefing on the matter were Philhealth, SSS and PCSO (Philippine Charity  Sweepstakes  Office).

Testimonies were also shared by breast cancer survivors in “Stories of Hope: The Recurrence in Retrospect”.

Also, a machine which can detect your carotenoid (antioxidant found in foods like sweet potatoes, carrots, spinach and lettuce to name a few) level in your body was also available in the Pink Tent. All they had to do was to have their palms scanned and seconds after they will know how cancer-resistant they are or not. The name of the machine is the BioPhotonic Scanner from US health company Pharmanex. Anti-oxidants are substances that protect cells, giving the body a strong immunity against free radicals. Free radicals damage cells, contribute to aging and play a role in various diseases such as cancer and heart diseases. They are caused by environmental exposures like tobacco smoke, pollution and radiation. For more info on scanner, watch: Youtube.com

The Pink Tent was organized by The Oakridge Pavilion and I Can Serve Foundation Inc.
