God’s Will

What are some things I should do to discover God’s will for my life?

“If you want to know what God wants you to do -ask Him, and He will gladly tell you. He will not resent you asking.” James 1:5

“The Lord grants wisdom!” Proverbs 2:6

“Oh, that we might know the Lord! Let us press on to know Him! Then He will respond to us!” Hosea 6:3

If you want to know God’s will in your life, actively seek God’s will through prayer and Scripture reading. You can also attain this in conversation with mature believers (those who share the same faith as you that Jesus Christ died for us to save us from our sins), and reliable advisors (friends who are believers again, and mentors who can give you advises on decision you need to make). Oftentimes, these people are those who have gone ahead of walking with the Lord and who have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ ahead of you. Being older in their walk with Jesus, their experiences in life and how God worked in their situation may be in common with your present predicament thus, helping you out. God uses these people to guide you and direct you to the right path, so listen to Him very intently. They are just some of the instruments that God can use. But there’s nothing better than to pray a lot and read the Bible a lot to see the course of God that He is showing you. This is most crucial if you are about to make a very major decision.

At the end of the day, God promises to respond. What’s nice, you will be able to develop a habit of being discerning to God as you practice it daily (not just on major turfs), bringing you into a deeper intimacy with God.

“We can be confident that he will listen to us whenever we ask him for anything in line with his will,” 1 John 5:14
