God’s Perseverance For Us

“He will also keep you firm to the end so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ,” 1 Corinthians 1:8

“He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.” Psalm 40:2

Ten days away from Christmas day! Traffic is starting to congest and malls begin to be jam-packed. People queuing here and there; everywhere you go, individuals fall in line for something. Either to buy that special gift for someone or to merely get that extra cash to purchase a dash of those wishlists. Some painstakingly do fall in line to get their ingredients they would use to whip up a recipe or menu to be served on the red, gold and white adorned Christmas tables.

Not to be a ‘kill-joy’ but you know what friends, all these are not the essence of Christmas (for one, there are no specific accounts that Jesus was born on that date). The substance of Christmas is Jesus Christ because the incident (when He was born) tells us that a Savior was born (Luke 2: 1-20). We cannot save ourselves on our own because we are sinners (Romans 3:23) and sin’s consequence is death (spiritual, physical, emotional, mental, etc.) as said in Romans 6:23. We need a Savior. Saving us is the very reason Jesus was born! This is the only important truth in our entire lifetime. Receive Jesus while He still hears. Hearken. Don’t delay and harden your hearts. Today, as you read or hear this, is your day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2, Hebrews 3:15). Receive Him as Lord and Savior. Jesus is God who was born in the flesh. He is God “in us” and “with us”–Emmanuel (John 1).

In trying times such as now (catastrophes and disasters), these are God’s nudges. There’s a purpose; God is calling us back to Him. Listen and seek Him while He may still be found. Read the ‘writings on the wall’ and do not neglect nor reject Him. It’s His doings, it’s His voice. God is pursuing and persevering for us. That everyone may attain salvation and receive the free gift of eternal life in Him (John 14:6).
