Gabii sa Kabilin Returns After Two Years

After two years of hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Gabii sa Kabilin – Cebu’s flagship heritage night returns on October 21, to showcase Cebu’s rich heritage and culture.

This year’s Gabii sa Kabilin theme is “Padayon”, highlighting Cebuano’s resilience amidst the different difficulties brought about by the pandemic and Typhoon Odette.

20 participating museums and heritage sites in Cebu City, Mandaue City, and Talisay City will be open for visitors during the event.

The participants of the Gabii sa Kabilin can see permanent and special exhibits during the event.

They will be presented with different cultural shows and programs related to Cebu’s heritage and culture.

Aside from that, participants will also be able to enjoy a tartanilla ride, food fairs, children’s activities, contests, and more.

Participants can also utilize free bus rides going to the different participating museums around Cebu.

Gabii sa Kabilin is also hosting a “Heritage Hunt” where teams will complete a series of challenges in selected museums and sites.

Meanwhile, vlogging and photography contests are also open to all ticket holders.

Gabii sa Kabilin is offering an early bird promo in which tickets are on sale for only P180 until September 21. After that, tickets will be priced at P200.

Senior citizens and students can also avail of the tickets at a discount price of P180.

Meanwhile, Children seven and below that are accompanied by adults get free admission and rides.

Tickets are available at participating museums.

Health protocols will still be strictly implemented during the event. Gabii sa Kabilin organizers said that they plan to meet with Joel Garganera regarding the different health protocols that should be implemented.

This coming September, Gabii sa Kabilin will announce their activities for this year’s event.

This year’s Gabii sa Kabilin marks its 16th year of the event. Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Incorporated (RAFI) launched the first Gabii sa Kabilin on 2007, aiming to commemorate Cebu’s rich heritage, nurture a sense of identity and pride of place among Cebuanos, and help preserve local culture and heritage by enticing Cebuanos young and old to visit the different museums in Cebu.

Gabii sa Kabilin will be on October 21, 2022, from 6 PM to 12 AM. (ASC)
