Four Letters, One Word

Published

on

Cause there was this thing called love.
It has four letters, one word
yet it consumed everyone in the world.
It’s undefinable people say,
once you fall in, you can never get out.
At times, you’ll be filled with pain and so much doubt.
But you’ll smile and build memories,
I’ll tell you this: love is a scary reality.

Then there was this thing called fate.
It has four letters, one word,
faced by everyone in the world.
It’s inevitable, I’ll tell you.
It’ll get you mad, happy, and a bit down.
You’ll find yourself by the window pane, tears in your eyes and a frown.
Although you’ll forget the pain,
I should probably warn you, fate will drive you insane.

You’ve probably heard the word hate.
It has four letters, one word,
directed to anything you could think of in this world.
It’ll make you feel heavy, you should know,
it stops you from thinking about what you say or do.
And because of hate you’ll make mistakes,
but they’ll make good stories, at least that’s what people say.

Tell me about the time you’ve felt pain.
It has four letters, one word,
a feeling loathed by everyone in the world.
As much as pain is hated, it’s inflicted by people,
it makes us feel feeble.
But soon enough pain will become a memory,
and you’ll understand that it has beauty.

I know you’ve encountered fear.
It has four letters, one word,
abhorred by a lot of people in the world.
It’ll make you feel coward-like and weak because that’s what people believe.
But if you look at it in a different light, I’ll tell you what you will see.
Fear can push you further,
it won’t hold you back any longer.

Now let me tell you about time.
It has four letters, one word,
known by everyone in the world.
It’ll move too fast and too slow.
No, it won’t be gentle like the wind’s tender blow.
But if you use it wisely then you’ll realise,
time isn’t something you should despise.

You’re living something called life.
It has four letters, one word,
experienced by everyone in the world.
It’s filled with hope, joy, and hurt.
Yes, it’s a puzzle,
a mystery you’ll have to solve,
but as life moves on, the whole picture evolves.

Four letters, one word,
undergone by everyone in the world.
It’s depth beyond everyone’s understanding.
As simple as things seem,
it’s complexity is deeper than people deem.
