FOR CHEAP RICE

Residents of Barangay Poblacion, Talisay City lined up for cheap government rice last Sunday in Poblacion Park. The National Food Authority (NFA) has allowed its accredited Grain Retailers Confederation to bring the cheap rice, valued at P27 and P32 per kilo, to the barangays after it was reported that no NFA rice could be bought in NFA-accredited stores. Some say this was hoarded by retailers themselves to be sold as commercial rice later on. The value of commercial rice is P41 and up. (Photo by LGC)
