For Anti-Drug Effort: Cops Receive Cash from Capitol

The Cebu Province Government yesterday, July 17, distributed a total of P631, 000 in cash incentives to 37 officers and operatives of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) as recognition for the policemen’s effort in the Capitol’s anti-illegal drug operations.

Cebu Governor Hilario P. Davide III in a message delivered by CPADAO chief Carmen Durano-Meca appreciated the law enforcers’ support in the nation-wide campaign to end the illicit drug business.

“Let me take this opportunity to thank the Cebu Provincial Police Office for your relentless support to the Cebu Provincial Government,” said Davide.

The Capitol awarded 25 policemen from the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) and 13 from Danao City Police Station. The PIB operatives got a total of P282,000 cash incentive while Danao city received P349,000 cash.

As a policy, the Province affords incentives to police officers who are responsive to their duties in confiscating illegal drugs in their area. Last year, Davide also awarded P500,000 cash to 30 policemen from Balamban town and Danao City.

The cash award ranges from P6,000 to P50,000, depending on the frequency of their participation in a drug operation.

Danao City Police Chief Alejandro Batobalonos got the biggest award of P50,000 followed by PO3 Roy Ryan Cavalida, who was recently transferred from PIB to Danao City Police Station. Cavalida received a total of P44,000.

“This celebration of the 22nd Police Community Relations Month is an excellent opportunity to create and strengthen valuable relationship between the police and the local community in handling peace and order concerns,” read the governor’s speech.

Davide also looks toward a stronger and lasting relation between the police and the community.

“Through whatever challenge or threat that may come, this relationship would be our strongest defense,” the governor stated at the end of his speech.
