Fast Response with UCAReS

In the light of peace and security in our country today, it is timely and significant that the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), Armed Forces of the Philippines-Central Command7 (AFP-Centcom), National Bureau of Investigation-CEVRO (NBI-CEVRO), National Telecommunications Commission7 (NTC), Police Regional Office7 (PRO7), PRO7 Regional Advisory Council, Office of Civil Defense Regional Office7, Cebu Bankers Club, Hello Marketing, Motorola Solutions Malaysia Sdn Bhd and other concerned stakeholders have created a Unified Communications Alert and Response System (UCAReS) to address adverse situations.

This state-of-the-art digital two-way radio communication technology is designed for faster notification, hasten the response of the security forces and public safety services during emergencies and alarms.

Last May 29, 2017, the members and officials of the abovementioned stakeholders witnessed the UCAReS Symbolic Switching held at PNP-PRO7 HQS, Camp Sergio Osmeña Sr in Cebu City.

Present to the Symbolic Switching were PRO7 Regional Director PCSUPT Noli G. Taliňo, Assistant Chief Lt. Col. Medel Aguilar of Unified Command staff for Civil Military Operations, OCDRO7 Regional Director Connie R. Ornopia, PRO7 Advisory Council Chairman Prudencio J. Gesta, CBC President Eugene Rigodon, Motorola Solutions Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Channel Key Account Manager Ma. Angelina M. Sulit NTC Regional Director Engr. Jesus M. Laureno, CCTO Chief Francisco Ouano, Mandaue City Risk Reduction Management Office (MCDRRMO) Head Felix C. Suico, Jr, among others.

CCCI President Melanie C. Ng said that with the existence of an institutional structure for the maintenance of peace and security such as the UCAReS will aid security measures and reduce atrocious crimes.

PRO7 Regional Director PCSUPT Noli G. Taliňo emphasized how this kind of equipment will complement the Barangay Alarm System (BAS) that was just approved in the City Council last Tuesday.

Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III wasn’t able to attend the Symbolic Switching but represented by Cebu Province Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) Head Baltazar S. Tribunalo.

In a message of Gov. Davide read by PDRRMO Head Tribunalo, Davide said that he has seen UCAReS as an excellent opportunity, timely and significant initiative to strengthen the partnership between the public and private stakeholders of sharing the responsibility for obtaining peace and order in Cebu.
