Sunny to partly cloudy skies is expected in most parts of the country Monday as two weather systems continue to be the dominant weather systems affecting the country, according to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Easterlies or warm winds from the east is now affecting the eastern section of the country while northeast monsoon prevails over extreme Northern Luzon.

For Monday forecast, cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms will be experienced over Eastern Visayas, Caraga and the province of Davao Oriental while cloudy skies with light rains will prevail over the islands of Batanes, Calayan and Babuyan.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms will be experienced over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

The state-run weather bureau also issued a gale warning due to the effects of the northeast monsoon as the sea condition would be rough to very rough due to strong to gale force winds expected to affect the northern seaboards of Northern Luzon.

“Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves,” it warned.

It added moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Northern Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the east to northeast with slight to moderate seas.

Meanwhile, expect zero to one tropical cyclone to affect the country this month. (PNA) JBP/CLTC
