Explore Kinatarcan Island

Kinatarcan Island or Guintacan Island is located in the northern part of Cebu Province, fronting Daanbantayan municipality. This humble island boasts several white sand beaches, coves, caves, unlimited seafood, and very friendly hospitable community.

The island is pretty laid-back as it has less commercial establishments, no hotel, no swimming pool, and no diner or decent restaurant – pretty much what you see is what you get. It has several sari-sari stores for basic needs. Transportation within the island is by motorbikes or habal-habal. Strolling in the island is highly suggested. Electricity is limited and turned off around 12:00 midnight and comes back around 10:00 AM the following morning.

Going There:

  1. Take Ceres Bus or Sugbo Transit plying to Daanbantayan Route at North Bus Terminal. For AC bus, fare is 185.00 and for Non-AC bus fare is 165.00 pesos.
  2. Upon arrival, ask locals or pedicab drivers to send you to Daanbantayan Wharf. Pedicab fare is 10.00 pesos each.
  3. Take pumpboats going to Guintarcan Island. The trip lasts 45 minutes to one hour and passenger pumpboats are until 1:00 PM, fare is 40.00 pesos. In case you missed the last trip, you can rent a whole fishing boat within the port area (ask locals around). Costs around 1,300 up to 1,500 depending on your haggling skills.
  4. Most boats dock at Pasil Port from Daanbatayan Wharf. Pasil Port is also one of the perfect beach areas in Kinatarcan Island.

Things to do in Kinatarcan Island

                                                                                                          Langub Beach

Visit Bitoon Beach – located at the back portion of the island, great for snorkeling.

                                                                                                        Bitoon Beach

Visit La-aw Cove and mini cave, where La-aw Lagoon is located and experience eating Lato fresh and unlimited! Travel tip – bring vinegar!

A must visit!!! The Lighthouse

We stayed at Kuya Willie Batindaan Resort for 3 days and 2 nights and set up our tent at the beach area. Although we have a tent, we opted to sleep in hammocks during nighttime. They have a lot of turkeys or pabo which I like the most. They also have spacious lawns with bermuda grass and direct access to the beach.

Us! together with Kuya Willie and group jump shot in Langub Beach.

Kinatarcan Island is promising and a great tourist destination! I will be coming back for more fun.
