DSWD Orients Partner-Agencies of Its New Pilot Project

The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VII (DSWD-FO7) oriented partner agencies recently on its pilot project called “Strengthening and Empowerment of Overseas Filipino Workers Families towards Preservation” here in Cebu City.

DSWD-FO7 regional director Ma. Evelyn Macapobre said, as members of this inter-agency body, the mandate is to serve the families of the OFWs. We do not only help them with their material needs but most importantly the relationship and psychosocial needs of the families as well.

DSWD-FO7 regional information officer Leah Quintana said partner agencies were oriented on their respective roles to effectively implement an inter-agency project that aims to help the families of Overseas Filipino Workers.

The Cebu City and Daanbantayan LGUs are the pilot areas for this project and four OFW families from Cebu City and Daanbatayan were represented in the orientation.

Each LGU will have 50 family beneficiaries hence 100 OFW families will benefit the project in the region.

Social Technology Bureau (STB) of DSWD-Central Office  Project Development Officer John Calidguid presented the implementation guidelines of the project and the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the Local Government Units (LGUs) and the Terms of Reference for the OFW facilitators.

Social Welfare Officer III, Patria Ana Quines also from STB discussed the terms of reference vis-à-vis the MOA for the Regional Inter-Agency Committee on Migration and Development.

Representatives from DepEd, CHED, POEA, OWWA, POPCOM, DOH, TESDA, DILG, Public Employment Services Offic,Local Social Welfare and Development Office of the Province of Cebu, Cebu City, Daanbantayan and DSWD workers attended the orientation.
