In preparation for the 3rd presidential debate next week here, police held a simulation/dry run Sunday to ensure that security is in order on April 24.

The first presidential debate was held in Cagayan de Oro City in February and Cebu City in March.

Supt. Christopher Abrahano, chief of police, said the activity was also a dry run/security exercises in order to secure all the presidential candidates and their entourage and supporters coming for the debate.

Focus of the dry run was Arellano Street where Phinma University of Pangasinan is located. The roads were closed from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. for the exercise.

Arellano Street from the corner of A.B. Fernandez Avenue where Jollibee Junction is located up to Silverios/Dawel restaurant was temporarily closed to traffic to simulate security drills and time convoy runs for the event.

Motorists from the north were advised to take alternate routes, specifically the Judge Jose de Venecia Sr. Expressway Extension leading to Barangay Lucao on their way to Binmaley and Lingayen towns.

During the April 24 presidential debate, the Dagupan police will ban all motorists from passing by Arellano Street, except convoys of vehicles of presidential candidates and their entourage. (PNA) JMC/LVM/LVMICUA/RMA
