All regions of the Philippines are now still classified as having minimal risk for COVID-19, according to the Department of Health Tuesday.

This comes as Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that COVID-19 cases nationwide is now on a slow decline, averaging 490 reported new cases daily from March 15 to 21, which is 13 percent lower than that of last week’s average which was at 564 new daily cases.

Vergeire added that severe and critical cases also went down greatly from 1,874 in the middle of January to 805, a 42. percent decline.

The undersecretary attributed the decrease in COVID-19 cases due to increased vaccinations in the country, coupled with an increasing number of booster shots being administered around the country. (GFB)
