DepEd Early Registration Up Until March 6

Published

on

The Department of Education (DepEd), Borongan City Division announces the continuing early registration for their school children from February 1 to March 6, 2020.

This is to ensure that all five-year old children are enrolled in kindergarten; that learners in the school continue schooling.

DepEd also maps out households in all barangays and records information of potential enrollees in the Alternative Learning System (ALS).

It also aims to locate, identify and enroll out-of-school children and youth who are in remote/geographically isolated areas, in difficult circumstances, or those belonging to disadvantaged groups or who suffer from discrimination.

This also includes children with disabilities or in need of special education, and has dropped out but would like to go back to school.

Mr. Larry C. Alde, planning officer/focal person of early registration,  urged the parents and guardians to register their children  this early.

He also reminded parents or guardians to bring the child’s Certificate of Live Birth or Baptismal Certificate, Certificate of Completion and School Form 10 and 137.

Alde disclosed that for kindergarten, the child must be five years old on August 31.

In addition, parents must provide a Certificate of Completion in childhood education such as day care or pre-school in a private school.

“The outcome of the early registration is very important because it will help public schools anticipate the number of enrollees for the coming School Year (SY) 2020-2021,” Alde said.

“With this, we can determine the needs of schools like the number of classrooms and teachers needed as reflected in the list of enrolment,” Alde  said.

The early registration is an annual activity led by DepEd to ensure that all new entrants for Kindergarten, Grades 1, 7, and 11 learners in public and private elementary and secondary schools nationwide are listed months before the opening of the new school year.

The early registration is compulsory to public schools while optional for private schools. (nbq/SDC/PIA-E. Samar)
