The newly renovated passenger terminal 2 in Pier 3 will be inaugurated today (Friday, June 26) after its soft opening last June 11, 2015.

The modern port facility, devastated during typhoon Yolanda, boasts of amenities that are the first of their kind in the history of passenger terminals in the Visayas.

Cebu Port Authority (CPA) General Manager Vice Admiral Edmund Tan said CPA allocated Php 50 million for the renovation of the terminal.

The passenger terminal 2 has a spacious fully air-conditioned lobby and comfort rooms with a free Wi-Fi zone area, coffee shop and canteen.

It is also the first passenger terminal in the Visayas that has gender-sensitive facilities such as breast-feeding station, meditation room, first-aid station and a play area for toddlers.

Passenger will only pay Php 25 for the terminal fee. Senior citizens, persons with disabilities and children below 12 years old are exempted from paying the terminal fee.

The terminal has a 980- total seating capacity for outbound passengers traveling to the neighboring ports in Visayas and Mindanao.

After the renovation of Terminal 2, the CPA will build Terminal 3, which is intended for the fastcraft vessels.

“We’re going to put up a terminal exclusive for the fastcraft passengers with about to 7 or 8 fastcraft companies to occupy the terminal” Tan said.

The passenger terminal project will cost Php350 million and will be connected to a shopping mall along the reclamation area. Bidding will be done this year while construction will start next year.

Tan added that the planned Passenger Terminal 3 will be constructed in the abandoned 2Go building.

CPA continues to fulfill its mandate of providing safety and convenience to its port users in the pursuit of its vision of a world-class port in the province of Cebu.
