Cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila, regions of Calabarzon, Bicol, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, SOCCSKSARGEN and Davao as well as Aurora, Mindoro, Marinduque and Romblon provinces, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 24-hour forecast released Thursday (Dec. 15).

Cloudy skies with light rains are expected over Ilocos, Cordillera and Cagayan Valley regions and rest of Central Luzon.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of the country, PAGASA said.

PAGASA said trough of a low-pressure area affected Southern Mindanao while tail-end of a cold front affected eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon.

The northeast monsoon or ‘amihan’ was affecting Northern Luzon, PAGASA also said.

According to PAGASA, moderate to strong winds from the northeast will prevail over Luzon where coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

“Light to moderate winds coming from the northeast to east will prevail over the Visayas and coming from the northeast to northwest over Mindanao with slight to moderate seas,” PAGASA said further.

In its gale warning 3 released Thursday, PAGASA said strong to gale-force winds associated with ‘amihan’ would likely affect Northern Luzon’s northern and western seaboards.

Expected 52 kph to 63 kph winds can fan there rough to very rough seas with waves up to 4.5 meters high, noted PAGASA.

“Fishing boats and other small seacraft are advised not to venture out into sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves,” PAGASA added. (PNA)RMA/CJT/RSM
