CIDG 7 Tracker Team to Hunt Ex-Cops Involved in Atty. Archival Ambush-Slay

The Criminal Investigation and Detective Group (CIDG) 7 has created a tracker team to locate the former officials of the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) 7 accused of killing lawyer Noel Archival and two of his men more than a year ago.

Cebu City Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Soliver Peras last week issued an alias warrant of arrest against former HPG 7 chief, Senior Superintendent Romualdo Iglesia, Senior Inspector Joselito Lerion and PO1 Alex Bacani.

The alias arrest warrant was issued after the first one, which was issued by the court in Argao City, expired.

Iglesia, Lerion and Bacani are facing multiple murder and frustrated murder charges for the death of Archival, his driver Alejandro Jayme and bodyguard Candido Miñoza.

Only Archival’s assistant, Paolo Cortes, survived the ambush.

CIDG 7 deputy chief, Superintendent Fermin Armendarez III, said they have received information the three suspects may be in Bohol.

Lerion is a native of Talibon town in Bohol.

But he said this is unlikely because Lerion can be easily identified in Bohol.

Armendarez said that with the new arrest warrant, CIDG 7 will not hesitate to arrest the three accused even if they are brothers by profession.

He urged Iglesia, Lerion and Bacani to surrender so that they can face trial.

They were dismissed from the service after they went absent without official leave (AWOL). (PNA) FPV/EB/EDS
