Two persons with disabilities (PWD) were the recipients of wheelchairs from the Chungnam Provincial Police Agency (CPPA) of South Korea.

Last Oct. 29, a delegation from CPPA headed by RID Chief Park Jang Min and Police Chief Inspector and Senior Liason Officer Leoncio Baliguat Jr. paid a courtesy call to Governor Hilario Davide III and donated wheelchairs for differently abled Cebuanos.

CPPA Chief of Foreign Affairs Section Cho Kyung Ho said that more than just paying a visit to Governor Davide and the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7, they want to donate wheelchairs as a support for KOPEC’s advocacy to differently-abled persons.

“They brought four wheelchairs from South Korea but since there were no police officers who needed it, we extended their help to the province through PSWDO and KOPEC,” said Baliguat.

Ernesto Genota of Commission on Higher Education 7 was personally identified by Dr. Choi as one of the beneficiaries of the wheelchairs.

Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Rocelyn Zosa identified Cora Clarin of WOW LEAP, as one of the recipients.

Clarin is the president of Women with Disability Leap for Economic and Social Program-Cebu Chapter.

“I am very happy to receive this blessing kay ang katung wheelchair nga akong gigamit kay sa opisina man gyud tu unya gubaon na sad kay 3 years naman tu nako nga gigamit (the wheelchair I used in the office needs repair since I have been using it for three years already),”Clarin shared.

Police Regional Office-7 and Chungnam Provincial Police Agency (CPPA) of South Korea signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) last year to cultivate effective and positive relations between the two parties.

The partnership has been established for years but it was just last year that they agreed to sign the MOU.

The other wheelchairs will go to Korean-Philippines Educational and Cultural Exchange Center (KOPEC), according to Choi.

“We have identified a child with hydrocephalus in Moalboal who really needs to have a wheelchair. Dr. Choi personally met the kid last week to make sure that he will receive it.”
