Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairperson Patricia B. Licuanan, Ph.D., welcomed the appointment of its newest Commissioner, Ronald Adamat. He replaces outgoing Commissioner Ruperto S. Sangalang, whose term expired last July 2016.

Prior to his appointment as CHED Commissioner, Adamat served as Commissioner of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) from 2010 to 2011, and was a Sectoral Representative for Cultural Communities during the 10th Congress. He is also currently a lecturer at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP).

We welcome Commissioner Adamat to the CHED family, and we look forward to working with him closely in advancing our efforts to expand access to quality higher education,” said Licuanan. “Coming from Maguindanao, and with his strong ties with the IP sector, we very much look forward to his contributions towards helping us ensure that higher education is inclusive for all Filipino learners. He also assured me that he is a team player, which is very much in line with how we do things collegially in our Commission En Banc (CEB),” she continued.

Likewise we would like to take this opportunity to thank outgoing Commissioner Sangalang for his four years of service to the Commission, serving as Chairperson-designate of the governing boards of 23 State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), and heading priority projects of the Commission, among others, support to Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs), Development of International Agro-technology Lighthouse (DIAL) program, strengthening of the National Agriculture and Fisheries Education System (NAFES), and the institutionalization of the Technical-Vocational Training Program for Farmers and Fishermen,” she said.

Sangalang served as CHED Commissioner from 21 July 2012 to 20 July 2016. Prior to his appointment to CHED, he served as President of Cavite State University for 25 years.(CHED)
