Certified List Of Candidates For National Positions In May Polls Out

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced on Monday the names of the official candidates for national positions in the May elections.

In a memorandum issued Monday, the Comelec Law Department released the certified list of candidates of those running for the presidential, vice-presidential, senatorial and party-list positions.

A total of six candidates are gunning for president, namely, Jejomar “Jojo” Binay of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA); Miriam Defensor Santiago of the People’s Reform Party (PRP); Rodrigo Duterte of PDP-Laban; Grace Poe, an Independent (IND); Manuel “Mar” Roxas II of the ruling Liberal Party (LP), and Roy Seneres of the Partido ng Manggagawa at Magsasaka Workers and Peasant Party (PMMWPP).

Comelec Chairman Juan Andres Bautista said the name of Seneres was included in the list as they have receive notices from the latter’s family and party that they were looking to replace or substitute the late legislator.

There are also six vice-presidential bets they are Alan Peter Cayetano, Independent; Francis Joseph “Chiz” Escudero, Independent; Gringo Honasan of UNA; Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr., Independent; Leni Robredo, LP; and Antonio Trillanes IV, IND.
